Over the offseason, our staff at Blitzburgh Blog set out to score and rank the Steelers entire roster. We used a scoring system put together by the excellent scouts and bloggers at UltimateNYG. It’s a simple, 7-tier system where each player is placed on one of these 7 levels:
1 = Consistent All-Pro impact player over the period of a career
2 = Pro Bowler, if not in name
3 = Solid starter
4 = Replaceable starter
5 = Second string, special teamer
6 = Fringe player
7 = Bust
All four of our writers graded out the entire roster during the offseason. As such, rookies and late free agency signings are not included in the list. Preseason performances are also not included so guys like Antonio Brown are probably a hair lower than they would be if this was done currently.

-B- Three Steelers graded out as a 1: Troy Polamalu (unanimous), James Harrison, and Ben Roethlisberger.
-B- Rashard Mendenhall, Lawrence Timmons, Ramon Foster and Emmanuel Sanders were the players with the widest range of scores (3 different ones for each).
-B- Players not included: Cortez Allen, Chris Carter, Jerricho Cotchery, Marcus Gilbert, Cameron Heyward, Weslye Saunders.
