Friday Field Trip: Holmes’ TD a fraud?

Every Friday, we venture out into the Web and pull in some of the best (and occasionally worst) Steeler related content on the Web. And here. we. go.

Since his retirement, Mike Holmgren must have relocated to Arizona because all we’re hearing from the bandwagon out there is “waaaaa.” AZ Central searched for every photo taken of the Holmes’ TD and tries to say it wasn’t legit. By now, you’ve probably seen the infamous photo with only one toe down. The 432 real Cardinals fans have done their best to spread it around everywhere. Look, we’re not even going to get into how one still photo doesn’t prove a thing. If you shoot 10 frames per second during any sideline catch, the toes will come off at some point. It’s not like Holmes can hold them their forever. Can you honestly look at all of those photos and say without a doubt that both toes didn’t touch a single blade of grass? It’s pretty clear that it was a touchdown and we’re not wasting anymore time on this. Go back to your golf courses and put away the bandwagon jagoffs.

The bloggers at Steelers Today put together an outstanding look at the upcoming free agency period for Pittsburgh. The last part examines the players with one year left on their deals who could be looking at extensions. Don makes his picks for who he’d keep and who he’d see off if he were Kevin Colbert. We don’t agree with all of his choices and maybe we’ll make our own picks later, but the guy knows his football and makes compelling arguments.

If there’s one thing you watch today, make it be the LiveWire of the Super Bowl from NFL Films. Simply brilliant stuff by them as always. Great to hear guys like Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, and LaMarr Woodley speaking their mind during the Super Bowl. Other great parts include Trai Essex’ family’s reaction to Harrison’s INT and a memorable exchange between Ward and Holmes, teacher and student as broken down by BTSC.

Just wanted to give a shout out to 5 Golden Rings, who now has a conundrum on his hands with the whole “name of the blog” thing.

Lastly, Ryan Wilson at HSS says that the Steelers should draft Mike Crabtree. Now. Actually, he’s just joking. Or is he?
