A closer look at the 2009 schedule

The Steelers schedule came out last week and with it came a sigh of relief. Last year’s run to the postseason was World War III.

This year? Not so much.

Games to mark down are vs Tennessee, vs. San Diego,  and…well, unless the Bears, Vikings or Broncos show some improvement that’s about it.

The non-divisional schedule is far from brutal. KDKA Sports Insider worked some numerical wonders and the Steelers schedule ranks 29th in the league based on last year’s winnage percentage. The NFC North is such a joke.

Who knows how tough the schedule will really end up being. The Dolphins and Packers could end up playing in the Super Bowl for all we know.

But at least we won’t be subject to reading stuff all offseason saying that the Steelers have to play the toughest schedule in NFL history.
