Exclusive Video: Ben Ben meets Todd Haley in the Steelers cafeteria

Much has been made in the last few weeks about the relationship between Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and new offensive coordinator Todd Haley. There’s been an awkward back and forth in the media and it took Haley several weeks to even get in touch with the superstar quarterback.  We have a few sources within the […]

Vote for Blitzburgh Blog in the 2012 Pittsburgh Sports Blog Tournament

Sean’s Ramblings always puts together a really well-orchestrated tournament of the best and brightest Pittsburgh sports blogs. It is always an honor just to take part in the competition with so many great bloggers out there representing the city.  Last year, we made a cinderella run to the Elite 8 and it was a pretty […]

Report: Steelers plan to release Hines Ward

The NFL Network is reporting that the Steelers plan to cut longtime WR Hines Ward. It is definitely not unexpected news, but considering he is the greatest wide receiver in franchise history it is still strange and sad.  Ward’s release doesn’t mean he won’t be back with the Steelers in 2012. It is more to […]

Todd Haley Named Steelers Offensive Coordinator

It’s being widely reported that former Kansas City head coach and Pittsburgh native Todd Haley will be named offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Haley most recently served as head coach of the Chiefs from 2009 to 2011 before being fired in December after posting a 19-26 record during his head coaching tenure.  Haley has […]

Infographic: Vital Stats of Every Super Bowl Matchup

This landed in our inbox a few days ago. Not really big into covering a Super Bowl between two teams that aren’t the Steelers, but the historical data in this is very awesome to look at.  Really fun looking back at all of the Steelers’ Super Bowl appearances. Kudos to James for passing it along! […]

Update: Keith Butler will stay in Pittsburgh

Longtime Steelers’ linebackers coach Keith Butler is going to interview in Indianapolis for the Colts open defensive coordinator position, Ed Bouchette reports.  Butler has been the team’s linebackers coach since 2003 and was a key factor in all of the Steelers recent Super Bowl wins. He’s long been considered the favorite to take over as […]

Bruce Arians named Colts’ offensive coordinator

So much for retirement. Arians worked with the Colts over a decade ago as a QB coach.  Really bizarre ending for him in Pittsburgh. It’s obvious now that things didn’t end amicably between him and the Rooneys.   I’m suddenly more confident that Jim Caldwell will be the Steelers new offensive coordinator.

A look at early mock drafts, Super Bowl odds

-B- There are a few excellent mock Steelers drafts up over in the fanposts at BTSC. There’s an ideal draft that has the Steelers taking NT Dontari Poe from Memphis in the first round, a name you had better get used to hearing over the next few months. Another one has Pittsburgh going with Stanford […]

Post-Gazette: Steelers decided not to retain Bruce Arians

Just a couple of days after Bruce Arians’ retirement, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has learned that Arians was told the team would not be renewing his contract and then decided to retire. Arians had told several members of the staff that he was planning on returning for 2012 and head coach Mike Tomlin wanted him to […]

RIP Joe Paterno

Today is a very sad day in Pennsylvania. Black Shoe Diaries summed up my thoughts and feelings today better than I ever could:  Joe Paterno would always be there for us too, as an unlikely combination of Fred Rogers and fellow Brooklynite Vince Lombardi. His hair would always be dark and his eyeglasses comically thick. […]

Report: Bruce Arians considering retirement, may not coach in 2012

And on the 18th day of January in the year 2012, the heavens opened up to Earth and angels sang out in celebration:  The Steelers coaching staff could undergo its first major change in the Mike Tomlin era because offensive coordinator Bruce Arians might not return in 2012, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has learned. Arians, 57, […]

Dan Rooney to return to Steelers in 2012; new throwback uniforms coming too

Steelers’ president Art Rooney II had an excellent interview this afternoon and provided tons of insight into the Steelers upcoming offseason and 2012 season. One of the biggest nuggets he revealed was that his father Dan is expected to return stateside after serving one term as the US ambassador to Ireland. Dan Rooney is expected […]

Bam’s Divisional Weekend Predictions

There aren’t many positives to come out of the Steelers dismal loss last weekend at Denver, but one of them is that I can now enjoy the rest of the playoff games without any stress. Every game the Steelers play in January takes at least a year or two off of my life and I’m […]
