Special Steelers delivery

Yes, my Super Bowl champs DVD finally arrived today. I ripped the packaging off right away and started watching on my laptop during lunch. Needless to say, this is a must buy, even if you have seen some of the coverage before on NFL Network.

Some notable highlights:

  • All the audio clips of Mike Tomlin are outstanding. Probably my favorite parts of the DVD. The passion he has for the game and his players really shows up a lot on here.
  • Before the divisional playoff game against the Chargers, there are some great shots from aboard the Gateway Majestic and inside Heinz Field. NFL Films does a great job of capturing the intense playoff atmosphere inside and around the stadium.
  • Jeff Hartwig has a few memorable exchanges with the members of the Cleveland Browns defensive line. I won’t spoil all of his comebacks, but they are good.
  • Ben Roethlisberger and Brett Keisel do the “Wanna-be Ghetto Handshake Between Two Unusually Large White People”
  • William Gay is nuts.
  • It’s interesting hearing some of the other team’s radio guys calls on some of the bigger plays of the year. Most of the time they show up on plays that will make you look away from the television, but it adds some excitement to the highlights instead of hearing Bill Hillgrove meekly mumble “touchdown” when the opponent scores.
  • If it is humanly possible, you will love Hines Ward even more after watching this. My goodness, that hit on Keith Rivers was ridiculous.
  • Casey Hampton is a pretty good comedian, but he’s also deeply respected and a big time leader of the defense. Some great soundbites from him.
  • James Farrior makes me want to run through a brick wall several times during the production. I’ve said it a million times, but Potsie is leadership personified.

Reliving the season again and again through this DVD will be worth the $20 bucks or whatever you pay. Do it. I thought that the 2005 one had a much better introduction to the film, but this season just had better highlights and great moments from top to bottom. The Steelers made it easy on NFL Films to produce a great DVD on their season.

For those who have already seen it, what were your favorite parts? Better than the 2005 one?
