Tuesday Field Trip: Best Pittsburgh sports blog, LeBeau returns

-B- Been a minute since I’ve posted anything…since the night of the Super Bowl actually. I’ve been too busy not watching ESPN or NFL Network. Every time I tried to start a post, Clay Matthews came out of nowhere and made me fumble the mouse.

-B- Seans Rambling’s has launched their annual Best Pittsburgh Sports Blog Tournament. Blitzburgh Blog made the cut as a 6 seed and drew a big time matchup against OFTOT in the first round. Cotter is as solid of a blogger as you’ll find. Tough draw. Voting for our round starts Wednesday night.

-B- Be sure to vote for all these awesome blogs too: WHYGAVS, The Pensblog, PSAMP, Pitt Script, Faceoff-Factor, The Steelers n’at , Three Rivers Burgh Blog, Pirates Prospects and Post Game Heroes. Get it done.

-B- Dick LeBeau will sign a new one-year deal to remain as the Steelers’ defensive coordinator. No surprise here. Anybody that thought he was leaving is clueless.

-B- A good profile on Mike Pouncey from Shutdown Corner. Get ready to hear rumors and predictions of him becoming a Steeler a lot the next few months.

Brother Maurkice went to an NFL team that prefers straight man-on-man power blocking to advanced zone schemes, and Mike Pouncey seems, at this point, to be a best fit for the same type of team. What he does bring to the table is an inordinate amount of functional strength – when you see him get legally violent with guys who are now in the NFL, it’s sufficiently impressive.

-B- Song of the Day: Childish Gambino – “Freaks & Geeks”
