Tonight is the last game that doesn't count, at least for us viewers. Rosters will be cut down to 53 players by the end of the week, and that means 22 players are going to lose their jobs with the Steelers. Tonight is their last chance to make the coaches think otherwise. Jarvis Jones isn't going to play, as his injury will cost him this game and perhaps a chance to claim the starting position when the season opens. Don't expect much, if anything, out of the starters tonight as they'll mostly be preserved for Week 1. Landry Jones figures to get the bulk of work tonight, and he needs it. He hasn't gotten into a rhythm so far this month and while the Steelers don't intend to rely on him this season, they definitely want to see him make some progress.
Tonight will be a night to keep an eye on special teams. When the front office gets together to decide who stays and who goes, special teams performance is going to be a deciding factor for players who don't figure to take any snaps on offense or defense anyway. It's going to be the last hurrah for a lot of guys who have played football their entire lives. Let's see what they can make of it.
